Eme grew up in the West Chicago Suburbs and started gymnastics when she was 9 years old. By the age of 12 she had reached the junior elite level, but a broken hand forced her to re-evaluate which direction her path would lead. She chose high school gymnastics and helped lead Carmel H.S. to two state championships in 1992 and 1993.
Eme was awarded a full athletic scholarship for gymnastics to Bowling Green State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology. She then took that combination of fitness and knowledge to Aspen, Colorado where she coached competitive gymnastics for 2 years. She also instructed sport-specific conditioning for the Aspen H.S. ski and snowboard teams. Eme then returned to the Midwest to obtain her Master of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois Chicago. Following she re-entered the fitness industry focusing on personal training and Pilates instruction.
