According to the American Heart Association, proper nutrition along with physical activity encourages children to adopt a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Children ages two and older should participate in at least 30 minutes of enjoyable, moderate-intensity activities everyday.

Classes Offered (age groups in years):

Open Play (6mos-12y) is a free play time offered for every member currently registered in a weekly class. If a child is a member but not currently registered for a class, they may pay a $10 drop-in fee to participate. Children under 3 must be accompanied by an adult.

Mommy & Me Matwork (3mos-11mos) combines the principles of Yoga, Pilates and weight training to stretch and strengthen your muscles by supporting and interacting with your baby. The class keeps a quick and challenging pace for moms which results in stimulating entertainment for the babies. Available as a Create-a Class.

Mommy & Me Gymnastics (8mos-3y) & (8mos-6y) involves a variety of gymnastics stations set up for you to bond and play with your child. The guidance and supervision of a coach is available for age-appropriate options at each station so that the child, and caregiver can safely enjoy our indoor playground. The extended age ranges are suitable for siblings to attend the class together.

Mommy & Me Gymnastics & Sports (1.5y-3y) (1y-4y) is a parent and tot program that exposes the child to gymnastics apparatus in the form of obstacle courses with the guidance of a coach. Tots are encouraged to climb, crawl, roll and jump at the stations with the help of a caregiver. Children at this age are learning acceleration, deceleration, and climbing while developing their ability to weight shift, run, walk backwards, and kneel to a stand. Gymnastics equipment helps facilitate these movements to encourage development. Brain development is also stimulated through the various balance challenges presented throughout the class. This triggers other areas of the brain to grow as well. In addition to gymnastics, the children will use the other gym and sports equipment for soccer, baseball, football, basketball, volleyball, hockey, tennis and golf. A coach is present for guidance on skill development but free play and bonding between the child and caregiver is encouraged.

Transitional Gymnastics & Sports (2.5y-3.5y) is a class for kids that need a smoother transition between Mom & Me classes and independent classes. With the assistance of a guardian, the child will learn the drills and activities of 1 sport each class, similar to the sports classes for older kids. Then the kids will move into the gymnastics side to become introduced to the equipment circuit and the skills involved at each station. The class will end with some free time for the kids to be creative and perform the activities they like the best. Throughout the session the guardian will participate less and less so that the child gains confidence in their independence. The end result is a happy and   comfortable child who is ready for a drop-off class in the next session!

Gymnastics (3y-4.5y) teaches basic tumbling and gymnastics skills with the guidance and spotting of a coach. Children at this age are in perpetual motion and learn by doing. They are establishing hand dominance and practicing single-leg balancing, galloping and hopping. Eye-hand and eye-foot coordination are facilitated with the use of gymnastics apparatus with the basic skills of rolling, swinging, jumping and balancing exercises. Body positions including tuck, pike, straddle, butterfly, lunge, bridge, and TADA! are taught through repetition in different varieties of activities. Combination of skills and tasks are used to improve memory and prepare the child for more challenging movements in advanced age groups.

Gymnastics (4.5y-6y) teaches children impressive gymnastics skills using proper progression, appropriate apparatus, and spotting in a fun, non-competitive atmosphere. Children at this age are developing an adult running style, skipping, and hopping consecutively. Therefore, skills which were introduced in Twisting Tumblers are presented here with higher expectation for smoother execution. These skills build a foundation of muscle coordination and strength that can benefit a multitude of sports in the future.

Gymnastics (6y-9y) includes more emphasis on flexibility and challenging balance skills to address the potential side-effects of growth spurts that limit athletic development in any sport at this age. Whether the child is a graduate of our younger classes or a first-time gymnast, this station-style class on the gymnastics apparatus can be geared towards each participants skill level and goals. Higher skill instruction and acquisition is safely taught through the proper use of equipment, progression, and spotting. Technique and form are emphasized on each piece of apparatus in a fun, non-competitive atmosphere.

Gymnastics (9y-12y) further develops the core fundamentals of gymnastics to complement whichever activities the young athlete is pursuing. This class is suitable for graduates of our previous programs as well as newcomers who have developed a passion for fitness and the many benefits that come with training on the different gymnastics equipment. Progression using the balance beam and trampoline is focused towards leaps, jumps, and flips which lead to higher gymnastics and cheerleading skills.

Sports & Trampoline (3y-4.5y) helps kids understand the principles of a multitude of popular sports. Each week a different sport is introduced with basic skill development and drills using the virtual fields on our walls for reference as well as child-sized equipment. Included are soccer, baseball, football, basketball, volleyball, hockey, tennis and golf. The class is ended on the gymnastics side with use of the trampoline to work on a variety of jumps.

Sports & Trampoline (4.5y-6y) develops a greater understanding of the rules and skills necessary to perform well in a variety of sports. Drills and mock play situations are practiced to become more experienced in soccer, baseball, football, basketball, volleyball, hockey, tennis and golf. The class is ended on the gymnastics side with use of the trampoline to work on a variety of jumps as well as an introduction to flips onto the soft mat.

Sports & Gymnastics (4-6y) is a double-length class offering age-appropriate, structured sports and gymnastics activities.

Along with multiple accessory pieces of exercise equipment, kids and teens are taken through a variety of stations which together improve muscular and cardiovascular endurance, as well as increasing strength, coordination, and range of motion. This class is also great for increasing body awareness and self-esteem and facilitating weight-loss, if necessary. In an attempt to keep children active during the years that they are most likely to discontinue organized sports and activities, licensed Physical Therapist Katy Sandberg White has designed this class based on research supporting the development of strength and bone density in moderation during the growing years. It is suitable for a wide spectrum of participants ranging from those being introduced to a healthier, more active lifestyle for the first time to the aspiring athlete who needs it to supplement their usual sports training for improved performance.
